Seattle Central College invites the community to experience Roots, Rain & Rhythm (1985–1995): The Sound of Black Seattle, an immersive gallery opening at the M. Rosetta Hunter Art Gallery. The exhibition honors a pivotal decade in Black Seattle’s cultural history—when music, place, and movement converged to shape the city’s creative identity. 

Opening Night Celebration takes play on Thursday, February 12, 2026, beginning at 5:30pm, at M. Rosetta Hunter Art Gallery, Seattle Central College.  The event is free and open to the public.  

THE STORYTELLER PORTION OF THE PROGRAM BEGINS ROUGHLY 6:10PM AND WILL BE LIVESTREAMED.  CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE LIVESTREAM, WHICH WILL BEGIN SHORTLY BEFORE THE PROGRAM STARTS.  

The Storytellers portion of the program will be hosted by Scott Griggs.
